On January 22, 1973, the United States government made abortion legal in every state. As a consequence of that law, more than 50 million babies have been aborted.
St. Mary's parishioners contribute to the annual October baby shower with gifts and monetary donations for a home for 16 unwed mothers. This home is called "Friends of the Unborn". During it's 25 years in existence thousands of babies have been saved.
The South Shore Chapter of Massachusetts Citizens for Life meets once a month at St. Paul's in Hingham. MCFL sponsors a "Walk For Life" in Boston in October to raise money for many Pro-Life causes. Also held annually on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion, there is a March For Life in Washington, D.C. Every year thousands of people from all over the country come together and show their support for life and the unborn.
