The Mission of our Parish Religious Education Program is to extend Jesus’ invitation to discipleship consistently and to provide our children with age-appropriate catechesis guided by a Biblical faith, the teaching of the Catholic Church and a clear vision of the Gospel.
This is accomplished by:
St. Mary’s Parish Religious Education Program is built on these beliefs:
· Parents are the first and foremost primary teachers of the Catholic faith. Through the parents, the faith is first handed on.
· The parish is called upon to support and extend the parents’ role.
· The parish Religious Education Program connects the home to the parish, family life to parish life, and family gatherings to parish gatherings.
Families must be registered parishioners of St. Mary’s to register in the Religious Education Program. Parish registration forms are available at the rear of the Church, on this website, at the Parish Offices(781-545-3335).
Documentation of Baptism is required for all new children to the program. If your child was not Baptized at St. Mary’s please include a copy of your child’s Baptism certificate with your registration. Those children Baptized at St. Mary’s do not need to submit a baptismal certificate. If you child were Baptized at St. Frances X. Cabrini, which is now closed, please contact the Archdiocesan Records Department at 66 Brooks Drive, Braintree MA 02184 (617-746-5745)
In order for us to keep a current listing of students who attend our Religious Education Program, we ask each family to re-register their child/children each year. If we do not receive a re-enrollment form, we will assume your child is no longer attending our program.
In an effort to meet the needs of our families during these ever-changing times, we will be aligning our program with the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Boston and the Scituate Public Schools. Based on last week’s announcement by Scituate schools, we will be planning our classes to be onsite with the ability for a hybrid model and a home model as the climate and times call for it. We will work closely with families to ensure all feel comfortable and supported during the Religious Education year. We will be sending more encompassing guidelines in the next few weeks.
As always, volunteers are essential to our Religious Education program. Please look over the scheduled class times and see if God is calling you to help in this important work of faith formation for our children.
